Bruised is a tight, gut-punch of a play about what happens after the violence – when the attackers vanish but the boy who watched is left sitting in the aftermath.
After her grandson is the victim of a horrendous homophobic attack, Berry lures Nick into her kitchen with a familiar smile, a harmless offer and the promise that it’s “just a chat”. But the door closes, the kettle boils and the questions sharpen.
How do you forgive the boy who watched ? Come closer and feel the temptation of picking sides. Bruised drags taboo truths into the light, putting LGBTQ+ lives, homophobia, and the silences around them centre stage.
Queer writing, Queer stories and Queer topics in the spotlight.
