Overview

She arrives with a suitcase and hope. What follows is messier than expected.

Never Fully Here is a darkly funny solo physical theatre piece tracing one migrant woman’s life in post-Brexit Britain. As jobs multiply, visas expire, rents rise and accents are scrutinised, everyday survival becomes a series of absurd rituals: making the perfect cup of tea, juggling work uniforms, turning immigration paperwork into games you can never quite win. Blending physical theatre, clowning, poetic text and repetitive choreography, the piece captures the exhaustion, humour and resilience of living permanently in-between – not foreign enough, never quite at home. Funny, brutal and tender, Never Fully Here reframes migration as lived complexity rather than spectacle, asking what it really costs to belong.

This play is part of the Union One Act Festival.
