Overview
Join Box Clever this January to celebrate 2024 and welcome in 2025. Box Clever will present A Christmas Carol with Slough’s very own Samater Ahmed in the role of Ebenezer Scrooge. After a short interval, Marc Zayat will perform his short piece, Plus One (20 minutes). This will be followed by a Q&A with Marc and the actors of A Christmas Carol.
Box Clever’s adaptation of A Christmas Carol brings Dickens’ atmospheric Ghost Story of Christmas to life through the company’s characteristic cocktail of textual accuracy, fun, lively action, music and audience participation in order involve and inspire. As our actors bring to life Scrooge: squeezing, wrenching, grasping, hard and sharp as flint, the audience will join him on the journey that he is forced to make through his past, present and future until laughter and goodness replace the ice in his heart.
Marc Zayat’s Plus One is a spoken word piece about growing up big in a room full of ‘normal’ sized individuals. A personal reflection that seems all too familiar to others who grew up obese and how that affected their mental health, relationships and school life.
