A Steelacts Production
FADING FIGURES is a bold, emotionally arresting one-woman show that blends live painting, spoken word, physical theatre, and immersive storytelling to explore grief, addiction, and the unspoken emotional labor carried by Black daughters.
Yarna, a gifted young artist, has lost her mother and two sisters in a tragic accident caused by her mother’s addiction. Trapped in her art studio with cardboard cutouts of her family, she relives their memories, tries to meet commission deadlines, and clings to her paintbrush like it’s the only thing keeping her from drowning.
Through humour, heartbreak, and art, the play asks: How do we keep going when grief won’t let us breathe? Can creativity heal trauma or just hide it?
