In Jamie Davis’s Beginners, directed by Richard Winsor, the curtain goes up in thirty minutes on the most important night of their lives and a small group of actors are on the verge of a very palpable panic attack.

What none of them realises is that, before the play even begins, each of their lives will be changed forever. Told in real time, Beginners is a fast, funny and heartbreaking exploration of what it takes to invest your life in the pursuit of art and asks why anyone would bother.

In Ben Stower’s Natural Affairs, directed by Livia Sardão, the guests, staff and resident ghosts of a rundown English bed and breakfast find their beliefs tested during a day when secrets become scandals and the fallout leaves everyone questioning whether it is better to hope for the best or prepare for the worst.

A play for romantics and cynics alike, Natural Affairs is an amusing and heartfelt look at the different ways we get along with life, death and one another, whether right or wrong.
